Artist's Comments

A 60's Fender Jazzmaster, colour Candy Apple Red. Fender USA stopped production in the 80's, but reissue models are still made by Fender Japan and Fender Mexico. This particular model with a matching-colour headstock is only made in Japan.

The model was made totally from scratch with 3ds max. You can see the unfinished phases in my scrapbook. After I had finished with the low-poly version, I tesselated it up to look good even when viewed close. After this I booleaned out the bite marks and added some random crap on the floor next to it. The floor is a photograph of the floor in my room, so this scene is 100% self-made. When the model was finished I moved on to adjusting materials and lighting. The lighting is from a HDR image used with Global Illumination. I used VRay for the GI and rendering. The finished scene took about 30 minutes to render (800x600 size, AMD 2000+ XP with 768mb ram).

I took part in the Freestyle Themed Graphics compo at Assembly '04. The theme was "Hunger". My picture was #6 in the competition.

lovely render, and a nice idea - good work, the floor looks a tad flat, though - is it bump mapped?

also, it could just be me - but isn't the whammy bar in the wrong place?
:iconhatsuli:
No bump mapping- you're right :)
The whammy bar is where it should be.
